Brazil’s Ex-Central Banker Tapped to Lead 2016 Olympic Investments

If the infrastructure build out required to get Brazil ready for the summer Olympics of 2016 ends up being a disaster, blame former Central Banker Enrique Meirelles. That is, if he accepts the job. He was tapped by new president Dilma Rousseff to lead the government run Public Olympic Authority, the Estado de Sao Paulo newspaper reported Monday.

Meirelles said that representatives of the International Olympic Committee phoned him to try and convince him to take the post, which will oversee and approve of all investments and projects like stadiums and roads needed in the Olympic Park for 2016.
